Bio builder
Fill the parts you want. If the bio is too long, the last parts are dropped first. The name and link are kept.
Hook and rewrite helper
Offline hook ideas work with no setup. Rewrite, shorten and tone changes need an AI endpoint that you host, see Settings below.
Settings: your AI endpoint
Deploy the small proxy from the ai-proxy folder in the download, then paste its URL here. Your text is only sent when you press Generate, and only to this address. Your API key never goes in this page.
Planner
Plan posts by day and platform, track what is ready, and export to your calendar. It plans only. You still post from each app.
New post
Series planner
Make a run of posts for a topic, one per day, then edit each in the planner.
Image cards
Turn a quote, a code snippet or a headline into a clean image for LinkedIn, X or Instagram. Drawn in your browser, nothing is uploaded.
Split slides with a line of ---, or write a title, then a numbered list. Each item becomes a slide.
Brand kit
Pick the Brand theme above to use these. Colors, name, handle and the link in the QR code are saved in this browser.
Dev Tools
Small utilities for the work around your posts and pipelines. Everything runs in your browser, nothing leaves this page.
About PostDesk
What it does
PostDesk is a desk for your social posts: write them, style them, plan them and turn them into images. Its text styles swap ordinary letters for lookalike characters from the Unicode standard, such as mathematical bold letters, circled letters and combining marks. The result is plain text, so it pastes anywhere that accepts text.
What is inside
- Styles turns one line into over a hundred looks. Pin favourites with the star, and your recent copies stay at the top.
- Composer styles only the words you select, then checks length for ten platforms, previews where the text gets cut, and tests accessibility. It also splits long text into numbered threads, converts Markdown to post-ready text, formats lists, and keeps templates, sign-offs and hashtag sets. It also scores your opening line and reading ease, suggests hashtags and emoji for each platform, and builds profile bios within each platform's limit.
- Planner lays out a week of posts by platform and status, makes a day-by-day series from one topic, and exports to your calendar (.ics) or a spreadsheet (CSV). It plans only. You post from each app.
- Cards draws quote, code and headline images, and multi-slide carousels you can save as a ZIP of PNGs or a PDF. A brand kit adds your colors, name, handle, social line and a QR code.
- Dev Tools has Base64, URL, JSON, UUID, hashes, JWT, Unix time, regex and a Unicode inspector, plus a UTM link builder, QR codes, text diagrams, block banners and image-to-text art.
- Tech Icons and Symbols & Emoji give you cloud, DevOps, AI and security icons plus dividers and kaomoji.
Where it works, and where it does not
- Works in most bios, posts, comments, chat apps, document editors and notes apps.
- Some older systems and fonts show empty boxes for rarer characters. Check how it looks before you post.
- Sign-up forms, usernames and URLs often reject these characters.
- Search engines and in-app search will not match styled words to plain ones.
- The X count is an estimate. Styled letters count as two on X, links as 23.
Accessibility
Screen readers often read styled letters one by one, or announce each as a "mathematical bold capital". Keep names, links, dates and anything important in plain text, and use styles for short accents. The Composer's check warns you when a post leans too hard on styled text.
Privacy
Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent anywhere, with one exception: the optional AI helper sends your text to the endpoint you set up yourself, only when you press Generate. Your draft, theme, pins, snippets and tray are kept in this browser only.
Backup and sync
Your drafts, pins, snippets, planner and card settings live in this browser. Back them up, move them to another device, or sync them with an encrypted copy that you control.
Encrypted sync (optional)
Needs the small server in the ai-proxy folder. Your data is encrypted in this browser with your sync code before it is sent, so the server only stores unreadable text. Anyone with the code can read the data, and a lost code cannot be recovered.
Settings here are not included in backups. Getting data from the cloud replaces what is saved here, unless the keep box above is ticked.
Install it as an app
When the page is hosted, Chrome and Edge show an Install app button in the footer. In Safari on a Mac, choose File, then Add to Dock. On iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. After the first visit it works offline.
Keyboard shortcuts
Press ? for the full list. The short version: / to search, Ctrl/Cmd+B, I, U to style the selection in the Composer, and Ctrl/Cmd+Enter to copy the whole post.
Self-hosting
PostDesk is a static site with no build step. Upload the files next to index.html to any static host, such as GitHub Pages, Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, Vercel or Azure Static Web Apps. The AI helper needs the small proxy from the ai-proxy folder, which keeps your API key off the page.
